Bajrangi Bhaijaan Review and Box Office Collection

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

July the 17th marked the release of “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” the much awaited movie of superstar Salman Khan, which is poised to recreate the magic of Salman Khan and Eid. This winning combination has shown phenomenal results on previous occasions too, with films like “Kick”, “Dabangg”, “Wanted” and “Ek Tha Tiger”, all hitting the silver screen on Eid and becoming blockbuster hits. “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” boasts of a talented star cast including Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Harshaali Malhotra and has been directed by Kabir Khan. The movie once again uses the India-Pakistan friendship formula and presents a touching treat, with the little girl stealing the show. Different from the conventional action avatar of Salman Khan, this one presents the star as a simpleton and a devout worshiper of guess who……Lord Hanuman!

The Plot

“Bajrangi Bhaijaan” stars Salman Khan as Pawan Kumar Chaturbedi aka Bajrangi, an ardent devotee of Lord Hanuman. He hails from UP but when he shows no interest in studies or wrestling, his disillusioned father sends him to Delhi to hunt for a job. Here he meets his love interest Rasika, portrayed by Kareena Kapoor, who is the daughter of a devout Brahmin called Digambar (Sharat Saxena). Enter Munni (Harshali Malhotra), a dumb 6 year old, who is estranged from her family in Pakistan and is left behind in Kurukshetra as their train departs for home. Bajrangi takes up the mission of reuniting the little girl with her family, for which he goes to Pakistan and takes the aid of Chand Nawab (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a television reported. The movie has its share of controversial scenes like the debate over issues like religion and non-vegetarianism, but overall, it touches the emotion cords, with the little girl pulling the strings of every viewer’s heart.

Performances

The movie marks one of the most mellowed performances of the superstar in the recent times, with him being more of a common man than a macho man. Kareena’s presence in the movie is ornamental, while Nawazuddin excels as usual. The best thing that has happened to “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” is Harshaali Malhotra, who turns out to be the stellar performer of the movie. Kabir Khan has done a great job, making sure that the story does not lose its essence and at the same time, does not hurt the religious sentiments of anyone. Once again, a must watch Salman Khan movie, though you will get a lot more than you expect in the form of the “chota dhamaka” called Harshali Malhotra!
