Rabi Lamichhane Casts Vote in Kathmandu; Balendra Shah Votes Early in Ward 2
Kathmandu — Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane cast his vote in Kathmandu on polling day, while senior party leader Balendra Shah voted early in the morning at a separate polling station in the capital.
Lamichhane voted at a polling center set up at the Mahankal Chaur premises of Upatyaka Khanepani Limited in Kathmandu Constituency-3.
He is contesting the election from Chitwan Constituency-3. As he is not a registered voter in that constituency, he is unable to vote for himself.
After casting his ballot, Lamichhane bowed to the ballot box in a gesture of respect.
Balen Shah Votes Early in Kathmandu-2
Balendra Shah, a senior RSP leader who has been projected by the party as a potential future prime minister, voted at Annapurna School in Sinamangal, which falls under Kathmandu Constituency-2.
Shah arrived at the polling station at around 7 a.m. and waited in line alongside other voters before casting his ballot.
He is contesting the election from Jhapa Constituency-5, where he faces competition from K. P. Sharma Oli, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML).
Like Lamichhane, Shah is also unable to vote for himself because he is registered as a voter in a different constituency.
Election authorities have reported that voting across the country is proceeding peacefully.
