Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus Review

Xiaomi, giving continuity to the trend of manufacturing flagship smartphones, released a flagship smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus, the big sibling of the Mi 5S and the successor of the Mi 5. And today we will be reviewing the same flagship smartphone, the Mi 5s Plus.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, just like the Mi 5S, receives metal uni-body. The rear panel is made up of brushed metal. However, we cannot say whether the device receives gorilla glass protection. The top and bottom parts of the device, however, are made up of plastic.

The device features an earpiece, a front facing camera, sensors and notification LED light at the topmost bezel. The device further features the capacitive touch buttons below the display. However, the touch keys are not supported by backlit.

The top part features a 3.5 mm headphone socket, followed by an IR sensor and a secondary microphone. The USB Type-C port, a primary mic and speaker grille is visible at the bottom. The device carries dual rear facing camera at the center on the back and a fingerprint sensor just below it. The device, further, features power and volume alteration keys on the right and the SIM cards tray on the left.

Furthermore, the Mi 5s Plus features larger 5.7 inches IPS LCD screen having 1080 x 1920 pixels full HD resolution with ~386 ppi pixels density. The display covers 94% of the NTSC color gamut and is color accurate. The screen also produces vibrant and saturated color and the viewing angles are also good. The device also acquires an ambient light sensor that makes the screen bright when using under light.

The Xiaomi ships Mi 5s Plus running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and its own MIUI 8.0. The device, further, is operated with Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset, Quad-Core (2 x 2.35 GHz Kyro and 2 x 2.2 GHz Kyro) CPU, and Adreno 530 GPU processors. The device also acquires 64 GB of internal memory and 3 GB of RAM. However, the device just like the Mi 5 and Mi 5S lacks a microSD card tray.

The Mi 5s Plus, furthermore, sports dual 13 MP, f/2.0 aperture lens, phase detection autofocus rear camera which is supported by a dual LED flash. The rear camera comprises of various features like 1/3″ sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size, geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR, etc. The device also sports 4 MP, f/2.0 aperture lens, 1/3″ sensor size and 2 µm pixel size front facing camera. Besides, the rear camera helps users to shoot 4K videos at 2160p@30fps.

Also, the Mi 5s Plus is equipped with 3800 mAh non-removable battery. Moreover, the device also supports fast charging functionality which is visible in maximum smartphones manufactured by Xiaomi. The battery backup of this device is also good as of other smartphones of Xiaomo. The device, further, is available in silver, grey, rose gold and gold colors.
