OnePlus is an international mobile phone manufacturer company that was founded on December 16, 2013 by former vice president of Oppo Smartphones, Pete Lau. The company entered into the competition of smartphones where Apple Inc., Samsung Electronics and other smartphone manufacturers where ruling it for number of years and established themselves successful by manufacturing smartphones that had some attractive features and where available in a bit cheap prices (compared to iPhones and Samsung’s smartphones). The same company, after successful two devices, released their third smartphone named OnePlus X on 2015, November. The OnePlus X is the successor of OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 which were released on June 2014 and August 2015. Moreover, the OnePlus X was the predecessor of OnePlus 3. Just like other smartphones ran by Android OS, OnePlus X is also a smartphone that uses Android OS and its own software to run the device.
The OnePlus X, just like it’s predecessor, this device too is made up of metal frame and this time the OnePlus X features a glass/ceramic from rear side as well. Coming to the front, users can see that the device features the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Moreover, the device has got identical look of the devices manufactured by OnePlus. Users can see an earpiece on the top of the device followed by front facing camera and sensors. However, the device, just like one of its predecessor OnePlus One, features a capacitive home button along with recent app and back button. Moreover, users can see that the home button doesn’t works as a fingerprint sensor and two capacitive buttons are not supported by backlit. Besides, a notification LED light can also be seen in the device.
Furthermore, users can observe that the device features a power button on the right side of its body and the volume adjusting keys have also been placed at the right side of the device followed by power button below it. The dual SIM card tray can be found above the power button. And yes, the phone, unlike its predecessors, supports the microSD card tray (uses SIM 2 slot). The USB Type-B port, a mic and a speaker grille can be noticed at the bottom part of the device. Moreover, a 3.5 mm stereo headphone port can be seen at the top of the device. Moreover, users can spot an active noise cancellation mic at the top of the device. The OnePlus X, just like OnePlus 2 has received an alert slider on its left side.
The OnePlus X, compared to its predecessor OnePlus 2 is thin and his low-weighted weighing 138 g. Furthermore, the OnePlus X comes with 5.0 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen having the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels ~441 ppi pixel density. Its predecessor OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 had TFT LCD screen. Moreover, the device has got good viewing angles and has good contrast. The device features an ambient light sensor which allows the users to use their device even in the intense light without any hesitation and this sensor turns on the screen when the users take it out of the pocket. Furthermore, the device’s display is bright and provides realistic color. The users, moreover, can add virtual on-screen buttons if they wish to.
Besides, the OnePlus X is equipped by Android OS v5.1 Oxygen OS of the box and can be upgraded to Android OS v6.0.1 Marshmallow. Moreover, the device is featured by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. The device possesses Quad-Core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU and similarly, the device is equipped by Adreno 330 GPU. Besides, the device comes with both 16 GB internal memory and 3 GB RAM. However, the OnePlus 2 is available having 16 GB and 64 GB of internal memory which also features 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM respectively.
In addition, users can notice that the OnePlus X is furnished by 13 MP, f/2.2 aperture lens, phase detection autofocus rear camera. However, the device features only single LED flashlight. The rear comes with features like 1/3″ sensor size, 1.14 µm pixel size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR. The rear camera captures video at 1080p@30fps and 720p@120fps. Moreover, the device features 8 MP, f/2.4 aperture lens front facing camera and front camera also records video at 1080p@30fps.
The device comes with Li-Po 2525 mAh non-removable battery. The battery, looking at its capacity may give nice battery backup. Nevertheless, the device just like its predecessors the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, lacks the adaptive fast charging functionality. The device might charge its battery little bit faster.
